Q: What happens when I purchase more than 10 4K movies and I run out of internal storage?

A: Once the internal storage is full, the Strato V will automatically delete older played movies to make room for your new movie purchase.

Q: Can I tag certain movies so they are not automatically removed from the server?

A: Of course! Simply mark the movies you want to keep on the Strato V as “Favorites”.

Q: How do I add a movie as a favorite to prevent it from being deleted when I run out of space?

A: Open the movie details page, scroll down to collections and add it to “Favorites”.

Q: How long do downloads take on the Strato V?

A: About 10 minutes over a 1 gigabit connection for a 2-hour movie.

Q: How do the download speeds compare to the Terra Server and Terra Prime Server?

A: The Strato V download speeds are faster than the Terra Server but not as fast as the Terra Prime Server.

Q: Can I add a Terra Prime or Terra Server to the Strato V for additional storage?

A: Absolutely! Once you group the Strato V with a Terra Prime or Terra Server, the Strato V onscreen interface (UI) reverts to the full Kaleidescape poster wall with the shuffle, list view and collections features you are used to seeing.

Q: Can I use the internal storage of the Strato V in conjunction with a Terra Server or Terra Prime Server?

A: No, once you group the Strato V with a Terra Server or a Terra Prime Server, the internal storage of the Strato V is disabled.

Q: If I add a Terra Server or Terra Prime Server, will the movies I have stored on the Strato V be automatically moved over to my server?

A: No. Once you add a Terra Prime or Terra Server to your Strato V, the movies will be deleted from the Strato V and you will need to re-download them to your server.

Q: Can I rent movies with the Strato V?

A: Of course! Movies rented on the Kaleidescape movie store can be played by the Strato V in either standalone or when grouped with a server. Rentals are automatically removed 48 hours after you start watching, or 30 days after the rental (whichever comes first).

Q: What are the main benefits of the Strato V over the Strato C?

A: The Strato V is a standalone device, has faster download speeds and support for Dolby Vision.

Q: What features does the Strato V lack that the Strato C offers?

A: No audio-only HDMI port. It does not support Co-Star with older Premiere players. It will not be able to play all HD titles at launch, but will play all 4K and SD from the Kaleidescape movie store. HD will be available in the coming months.

Q: Can I add a Strato V to a Strato C and Terra Server or Terra Prime system?

A: Absolutely! Adding a Strato V to an existing Kaleidescape server is a great way to add support for Dolby Vision in a room.

Q: Do I need to download special versions of a title to see Dolby Vision?

A: Yes. To take full advantage of Strato V’s Dolby Vision playback capabilities, a Dolby Vision version of the movie must be downloaded to the system. In almost all cases, the Kaleidescape system will automatically detect your Strato V player and download the correct Dolby Vision version.

Q: What if my TV or projector does not support Dolby Vision?

A: If the Strato V is connected to a display that only supports HDR10, the player will convert any Dolby Vision content to HDR10.

Q: Does the Strato V support HDR10+?

A: No, the Strato V does NOT support HDR10+.

Q: What colors are available in the Strato V?

A: The Strato V comes in a sleek black anodized finish.

Q: Does the Strato V have WiFi connection?

A: No, you will need to connect the Strato V using a wired ethernet connection to obtain software updates and download content from the Kaleidescape store.

Q: Can I create custom scenes and scripts on the Strato V?

A: Absolutely! You can create both custom scenes and scripts with the Strato V Movie Player.

Q: Can I create collections?

A: No, the Strato V does not support collections.

Q: Can I download a movie on the Strato V while I’m watching a movie?

A: Of course! The Strato V will seamlessly download your movies in the background while not interrupting your movie watching experience.

Q: Can I return the Strato V back to a standalone player?

A: Yes. To return the Strato V back to standalone mode, with the power on, initiate a factory reset by pressing and holding the pinhole reset button on the Strato V back panel for 5 seconds until the front panel LED’s begin blinking. The Strato V will reboot and return to standalone mode. The onboard SSD storage will be empty so you will need to re-download the movies from your movie library.

Q: Does the Strato V support an external Blu-ray drive for Disk-to-Digital Offers?

A: Absolutely! You can catalog your Blu-ray movies to your Strato V player using an external Blu-ray drive.
