Captivator RS Series Subwoofers
Captivator RS Series Subwoofers
The JTR Captivator RS2 is hands-down the best subwoofer I’ve ever experienced in my home theater. Whether I’m jamming to my favorite track or pushing the limits with an action-packed movie at reference volume, these subs always leave me grinning from ear to ear.
When I demo my theater for first-time visitors, they often ask if I’m using tactile transducers to shake the seats. The answer? Nope! It’s all the RS2’s. These subs pressurize the entire room, so you feel every note of bass in your body. And keep in mind, my seats are sitting on a solid concrete floor—so what you’re feeling is pure, earth-shaking bass from the RS2’s, not vibrations from the floor.
Some folks think ported subs are the only way to get serious output.
In my dedicated theater, I’ve clocked the RS2s at 115dB at 8Hz!
In my 2,470 cubic/ft space, these beasts have more headroom than I’ll ever need. If your space is even bigger, you might be tempted by the monstrous JTR Captivator 4000ULF—but be warned, that thing could seriously shake your house down to the foundation!
When you’ve got more subwoofer power than you need, like the RS2, it’s not just about volume—it’s about effortless, clean bass at any level. And since they’re sealed, there’s no annoying port noise. With dual 18” drivers and 33mm of xmax, these subs give you the kind of bass that makes you duck for cover during the shotgun scene in John Wick 3. Trust me, you’ll feel it!
If you have the space, (4) RS1s in each corner or in the middle of each wall is ideal. When dialed in, this will offer the most even bass response across each seat in your room. If you don't have the floor space, consider a pair of RS2s.
The Captivator RS are reference subwoofers in a sealed enclosure. The RS1 is a single 18” with a 2400-watt RMS amplifier, while the RS2 offers dual 18’s with a 4000-watt RMS amplifier. With both the RS1 and RS2, you can expect ridiculous output, low distortion, and extremely low bass extension (10Hz or lower in room).
